Is there any downsides to online blogging?

They say that having an opinion is a right. Your allowed to have your own opinion, at the end of the day, its your feelings, why should you have to hide them?
The problem with online blogging is that you will always find someone who doesnt agree with your opinions, they tend to comment on blogs they disagree with in which tends to end up in an argument.

Famous diaries "blogs"

What are famous blogs that are viewed by millions?

Perez Hilton - Dishes the gossip on celebrities, has become very famous in America and across the world due to his gossip blog and the style in which he writes exactly how he feels and doesn't sugar coat his opinion.

TMZ - Yet another blog that dishes the dirt on all the celebrity news and gossip.

Girl with a one-track mind - Following Belle De Jour, writing annoymously as a sex worker.

The offside - Gives all the news and details on football, including scandals.

The F word - A feminist blog.

So what is the new form of diary?

Dear Diary...
Is that even said anymore? I haven't written that in a while.
So it seems that writing on the internet for the world to see is the new craze for people to vent their frustrations and get across their opinions.
A decade ago, diaries were a private way for a person to write about their secrets and never expect people to see what they have written, but now writing a diary, or a blog as its now called, is like a show!

21st Century Diaries

It's strange isn't it?!
This is what a diary looks like. It's not physical, you don't need a pen, you just need internet access and your imagination.
It's amazing how its changed. I'm literally writing online for everyone to see, and it unnerves me a bit.
Diaries used to be so personal, what happened?
